Ok, I did it again. “Running” by Gwen Stefani.
Pride & Power
Remember the movie, Cool Runnings, about the Jamaican track runners who decided to do a bob sled team? I previously posted about motivation, and here’s a scene from the movie where they would look themselves in the mirror and get hyped up.
Sometimes it takes just that to jump start your runs, especially at the big event. Maybe not as extreme as that, but that little voice in your head can do wonders.
Runnin’
I just had to. “Runnin” by The Pharcyde.
Pee Like a Champ
Have you seen this clip of Paula Radcliffe during the London Marathon 2005 stopping during her race to “use the restroom?”
Guess what? She still won.
San Diego County TNT
It’s very interesting to see what other chapters are doing, so I came across this Viddler video of the San Diego County TNT, who is training for the Half & Full Marathons taking place at Walt Disney World, Phoenix, and Carlsbad in January 2009.
LLSpotlight – Why LLS
LLS posted a new video on their YouTube channel, with overview of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). It’s a first of a series titled, LLSpotlight. John Walter, President & CEO and others talk about “Why LLS?”
San Jose Here I Come!
Call it marathon withdrawals, but I still have the itch to do another race! What did I do? I signed up for the San Jose Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon! Elite Racing had a $15 off coupon, so I just had to jump on it. I mean, after a 26.2 run, what’s 13.1? I think of it as another training day. It’s just another Sunday, or is it? By the time of the race, I won’t have a TNT training plan, but I do have the knowledge of setting something up very similar to it. I just have to be determined and focused. I know that if I do drop off in training, or some kind of cardiovascular training, my risk to injury is increased. I plan to do other small races until the event, so hopefully the San Jose Half won’t be a problem.
TNT 20th Anniversary Video
2008 is Team In Training’s 20th Anniversary. Learn more about Team In Training in this very inspirational video about how it all started.
All About Team In Training
I give credit to my friends Anna Catolos and JoAnne Samson, for introducing me to Team In Training. They were the first ones who inspired me to run a marathon, as they trained for the San Diego Rock N’ Roll Marathon back in the summer of 2006.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training® has trained more than 10,000 Southern California residents to run or walk a marathon or half marathon; cycle a 100-mile century ride; complete an adventure race or a triathlon. All participants are involved in a lifesaving mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Below is the informational video that was showed at all the informational meetings:
